Idol Gets Guest Judges & A Royal Surprise
We’re getting closer to the American Idol finale!
During Sunday night’s (May 7) episode, the Top 8 contestants performed for America’s votes. They all sang Ed Sheeran and Alanis Morrisette songs, since the two of them served as guest judges.
Luke Bryan seemed to love having Sheeran and Morrisette with him on the show. He shared photos of them together, and said, “Look who I found!! We’re LIVE with @teddysphotos & @alanis! Make your votes count tonight.”

Sheeran and Morrisette filled in for Katy Perry and Lionel Richie, who were both absent. They were overseas performing at King Charles’ coronation concert.
King Charles and Queen Camilla actually made a surprise appearance during the episode.

The Idol Top 5 Are Revealed…
On top of that royal surprise, Idol also revealed its Top 5 contestants during the episode. That means that three talented singers were eliminated and sent home.
The results were revealed near the end of the episode. Keep reading if you want to find out who advanced into the Top 5.

Zachariah Smith
Megan Danielle
Iam Tongi
Wé Ani
Colin Stough
The Top 5 contestants will all be going to Disneyland. Watch them celebrate with host Ryan Seacrest in the video below.
Sadly, Oliver Steele, Haven Madison, and Warren Peay were all eliminated from the competition. We wish them the best moving forward in the future. They’re all incredibly talented!
