1883 Revealed The End Of Yellowstone
The Yellowstone season finale revealed exactly what will happen to the Dutton ranch.
Some astute fans were not surprised, as the prequel of Yellowstone, 1883, already revealed it. Here is a full explanation of the prophecy.
The series 1883 follows the Dutton family as they journey across America with the goal of settling in Oregon. The family consists of James and Margaret Dutton, played by Tim McGraw and Faith Hill. They have two children: Elsa Dutton, portrayed by Isabel May, and a son named John Dutton, who we will meet again as an adult in the series 1923.
1883 Prophecy Explained
To understand the full context of the prophecy that foretold the ending of the beloved television series Yellowstone, you must understand the character Elsa Dutton. Imagine Beth Dutton as a teenager in the late 1800s, and that would accurately describe Elsa.
She was a spitfire who always challenged her family, the status quo, and nature.
Elsa was the narrator for the series 1883, which is the only show in the Yellowstone universe to feature a consistent narrator. She returns in the series 1923, again as a narrator, though not as frequently. Her voice-over was also heard during the Yellowstone finale.
It is poetic that Elsa Dutton’s voice was there from the beginning to the end.
Why Is Elsa Dutton So Important In This Story?
As her family traversed the wild plains of America, they embarked on the treacherous journey along the Oregon Trail to settle a new land. During their travels, they found an Indian tribe that bandits had attacked and killed. The remaining tribe members mistook Elsa Dutton’s family and their caravan for the culprits and attacked them.
Elsa saved everyone by revealing her marriage to Sam, a Native American from a different tribe. In the midst of the battle, she took an arrow through her liver, and although she seemed to be healing, she only had about a week to live.
Her parents decided that they would never leave her. They chose that wherever she passed away, they would stay. That land ended up being what is now known as Yellowstone in Montana.
At the time, the Indian chief told Elsa’s father, James, about a plot of land that they could settle in, but he prophesied:
“Know this,” he says, “that in seven generations, my people will rise up and take it back from you.”
James agrees, saying, “In seven generations, you can have it.”
In Yellowstone’s finale, Kayce Dutton made a deal with Chief Thomas Rainwater. Rainwater signed over the Yellowstone Ranch to Dutton because the family could not afford the tax bill.
They honored their father’s wishes by guaranteeing that the land would remain undeveloped and that the Native American tribe would never sell it.
The prophecy was fulfilled.
The story continues with the announcement of a second season for 1923. You can watch the trailer below.
