What’s Happening With Yellowstone?
Yellowstone fans have been worried about the show’s fate for months now. After the midseason finale in January, rumors started surfacing about behind-the-scenes drama.
Since then, various outlets have published unconfirmed reports about Yellowstone‘s future. One claimed that Season 5 (the current season) will be the show’s last. Another report claimed that show creator Taylor Sheridan is planning to kill off main character John Dutton (Kevin Costner) in Season 5’s second half.
One of the newest reports claimed that Season 5 of Yellowstone will be Costner’s last.

Paramount Releases Announcement About Yellowstone‘s Future
At last, Paramount released an announcement on Friday (May 5) confirming Yellowstone‘s fate. Season 5 will resume in November, but the show will not continue after the season ends. At least, not in its current state.
While Yellowstone as we know it is ending after Season 5, the story will continue. Paramount also announced the show is getting a new sequel series.
The network did not provide many details about the new show. They did share it will debut in December. The show will air on TV on the Paramount Network and will also be available to stream on Paramount+
“‘Yellowstone’ has been the cornerstone on which we have launched an entire universe of global hits,” said Chris McCarthy, the CEO of MTV Entertainment Studios. “I am confident our ‘Yellowstone’ sequel will be another big hit.”

David Glasser, CEO of 101 Studios, chimed in too. Glasser said, “The Dutton story continues, picking up where ‘Yellowstone’ leaves off in another epic tale.”
There’s hope that some of the main Yellowstone cast members will return for the sequel. It was also previously announced that Matthew McConaughey has been tapped to star in a new Yellowstone series…so perhaps this sequel will be that series.
