Hurricane Milton Made Landfall In Florida Late On Wednesday, October 9

Milton made landfall near Siesta Key, Florida, as a Category 3 hurricane around 8:30 PM on Wednesday (October 9). The storm produced heavy rainfall, strong winds, flooding, and several tornadoes.
At approximately 1:30 PM ET on Thursday (October 10), NBC News reported ten confirmed fatalities in connection to Milton. Additionally, over 3.4 million people were left without electricity.
NBC News reports Milton moved into the Atlantic Ocean by Thursday morning.

- The Humane Society of the United States established a disaster relief fund to help pets affected by Hurricane Milton. The organization was already assisting with rescue efforts following Hurricane Helene. The organization said it was “rushing to help transport animals in shelters to safety” after Milton.
- Metro Ministries in Tampa “provides families with the food, water, shelter, and supplies they need to restore their lives after the hurricanes.”
- Feeding America established a disaster response fund to provide food and other supplies to those in need.
- The Manatee Community Foundation for Florida’s Manatee County established a disaster relief fund to assist those affected by Hurricane Helene and Hurricane Milton.
