The final week of Blind Auditions has just wrapped for NBC’s hit reality singing show, The Voice. Coaches Reba McEntire, Snoop Dogg, Gwen Stefani, and Michael Buble each filled their teams with talented singers in hopes that one will be named champion.

Nashille-based singer/songwriter Alison Elena was ready to make her family proud as she took the Voice stage. She chose to tackle a Carrie Underwood ballad, who fittingly also got her start from a reality singing competition.

Executing a Carrie Underwood song is no small feat, and she has one of the strongest female voices in modern country music.

Alison Elena hoped to impress the coaches with her rendition of “So Small”

“So Small” was written by country music powerhouse Carrie Underwood along with songwriters Hillary Lindsey and Luke Laird. It was released as the first single from Carrie’s 2007 album, Carnival Ride, and became her fourth career number-one hit.

Carrie described the song:

“So Small” is a feeling song on how people invest so much of their time and energy into things that aren’t really important, and you don’t really realize that until it’s too late.”

Alison Elena earns two chair turns with her heartfelt audition

Alison’s mother and grandfather watched eagerly from side-stage as the young woman gave it her all.

Reba McEntire was the first coach to turn her chair while the other listened intently. Finally, at the last minute, Snoop Dogg followed suit.

Reba commented that Alison’s voice was reminiscent of country music in the 80s. She would know, since she was busy topping the country charts for the better part of the decade.

Ultimately, Alison chose to join Team Reba and will be moving on to the next round of competition!
