Snoop Dogg didn’t initially turn his chair for 61-year-old singer Gail Bliss, but thanks to a new rule, he was able to keep her on the show.

Gail Bliss’s audition for The Voice aired on Monday (September 30). She performed The SteelDrivers’ “If It Hadn’t Been For Love,” and even though Coach Snoop Dogg’s hand was hovering his button the entire performance, he didn’t end up pressing his button for her.

When speaking with Bliss, he told her the reason he didn’t turn for her during her audition was because of his fellow coach Reba McEntire.

“I was going to push, but I didn’t because I was waiting on Reba. I knew if Reba pushed, I would lose,” he said. “She has stage presence, and she has a look about herself that looks like she was a damn superstar.”

Thankfully, a new rule allows the coaches to select one singer for their team from the competition that they didn’t initially turn for. During the Season 26 premiere, host Carson Daly explained to rule to Snoop Dogg, Reba McEntire, Gwen Stefani, and Michael Bublé.

Daly said, “When the Audition is over, you have a second chance to go back and get that Artist by pressing your button.”

What is the Replay Button?

The Replay Button will give the coaches an opportunity to bring a singer into their team after they did not turn for them during the Blind Audition. Each coach is allowed to use it one time.

After an artist finishes their audition, all the chairs turn to face the singer. If a coach didn’t turn their chair during the audition and they feel regret about not trying to get them on their team, the coach can hit their Replay Button to make another attempt.

Reba McEntire used her Replay Button on 37-year-old Kendall Eugene in the premiere episode.

Snoop Dogg pressed his Replay Button in the September 30th episode for 61-year-old singer Gail Bliss.

A professional singer for 37 years, Gail said she wanted to inspire the older folks to continue to pursue their dreams, even if she didn’t make it on a team.

But thankfully, Snoop Dogg was visited by the spirit of his beloved mama, who told him that he needed Gail on his team.

“The spirit of my mother is in me right now,” Snoop Dogg told her. “My mother’s sister’s name was Gail. She was one of my favorite aunties. You couldn’t see me but I had my hand [hovering over my button.]”

While Gail said, “Aw man,” Snoop Dogg told her they added a “piece to the puzzle.”

“For example, if I were to press this red button right here, you would be on my team,” he said before pressing it!

She started jumping up and down in excitement. We can’t wait to see where her journey with Snoop Dogg takes her!
