Baby Makes Four For Scotty McCreery And His Wife Gabi – Meet Their New Addition
In May, Scotty McCreery and his wife, Gabi, announced they were expecting Baby #2. The couple shared the news alongside a series of sweet family photos with their son, Merrick “Avery,” who turns three in October.
“A new best friend coming this fall! 💙💙” they shared. Many fans assumed the two blue heart emojis signified that Avery was getting a baby brother. That assumption was correct!

On September 23rd, Scotty and Gabi joyfully announced that their second son arrived on September 18th.
Gabi’s post introducing the world to their son read, “Oliver Cooke McCreery joined our family on September 18th. Can’t imagine life without him, we love him so berry much!!“
The mom of two included the berry pun because just days before she was set to give birth, Scotty, in an interview with CMT, said that Avery had asked to name the baby after his favorite treat at Bojangles, the Bo-Berry Biscuit. The love of the treat runs in the family, as Bo Berry Biscuits were served at Gabi’s baby shower!
While we don’t know much about the meaning behind the name Oliver Cooke, we do know that Cooke is Scotty’s mom, Judy’s maiden name.

The Joyful News Comes After A Heartbreaking Time For Scotty’s Family
Scotty and Gabi’s son arrived just a few months after their family suffered two devastating losses. Scotty’s maternal and paternal grandmothers, Janet and Paquita, died on the same day.
According to a post from Scotty’s mother, Judy, Grandma Janet had been fighting norovirus and the flu, then dehydration and pneumonia, before her death. Grandma Paquita, who famously flirted with Steve Harvey on Celebrity Family Feud, had been in poor health for some time before she passed away.
“My heart is absolutely broken. Yesterday, both my Grandma Janet and my Grandma Paquita passed away. I think I am still in a bit of shock as I type this, but I’m choosing to remember the great memories we all made with both of them,” Scotty said after his grandmothers’ deaths. “There really are too many to count. From being on the farm in Elizabeth City or visiting the Outer Banks with Grandma Janet.. And then the incredible memories we made at the backyard pool in Pinehurst, all the way to visiting Puerto Rico with Grandma Paquita. Both of them truly taught me what love is all about. I will miss them dearly.”
Our hearts and prayers remain with Scotty’s family as they grieve the loss of Janet and Paquita. We fully believe they are smiling down on Scotty and Gabi’s baby boy.
