Report: John Dutton Will Die In Season 5 Of “Yellowstone”

Brace yourself, Yellowstone fans.

Just yesterday (April 18), it was reported by the New York Post that the hit show has been cancelled and will end after Season 5, which has been split up into two parts. Part One has already aired, and Part Two is supposed to be filmed right now.

The New York Post claims a “production source,” who remains unnamed, told them:

“Hopefully Kevin will return for the remaining episodes if everyone works together, but it looks like ‘Yellowstone’ will end after this season.”

This comes after rumors of a feud between series star Kevin Costner and creator Taylor Sheridan.

Reports surfaced online that Costner wanted to cut down the number of days he’d need to be on set from five months to one week. Costner’s attorney addressed these reports almost immediately, calling them “ridiculous.”

Production of Season 5 Part Two has been halted, with Yellowstone actors openly telling press they weren’t sure when filming would resume, but are ready for when they do get the call. Cole Hauser, who plays Rip Wheeler, shared an old photo of him in character alongside Denim Richards (Colby) and Jefferson White (Jimmy). The caption read, “See y’all soon,” giving fans hope that filming will resume sooner rather than later.

ShowBiz411 has spoken to a source familiar with the situation, who claims that John Dutton will be killed off, but the show will continue without him for at least one more season.

“The whole team is down in Texas now meeting, and trying to figure out how to do it. I’m sure Taylor Sheridan has it worked out more or less,” the source told ShowBizz411. “We all knew Kevin would leave eventually.”

His death will leave the question: Who will run the Yellowstone ranch? Our guess is that Beth. Kayce, and Rip will join forces to move the ranch into the next chapter and eventually hand off the duties to Tate and Carter. What do you think?

John Dutton has already escaped death a few times during the five seasons – cancer, gunshot wounds, and more. The writers will definitely have to be creative on how to kill him off the show.
