The inaugural People’s Choice Country Awards took place on September 28, 2023 in Nashville, TN
The first-ever People’s Choice Country Awards (PCCAs) aired in September and was an evening dedicated to celebrating the best and brightest in country music, as decided by the people. As the name implies, the new awards show put the power in the hands of the fans and asked them to vote for their favorite artists, albums, performances, and more.
Little Big Town hosted the ceremony, which was held at the famous Grand Ole Opry House in Nashville, Tennessee. Performers for the night included Carly Pearce, Wynonna, Blake Shelton, Toby Keith, and more. Wynonna and Toby Keith were honored with the special Country Champion and Country Icon Awards.
Nearly 4 million viewers tuned in for the 2023 People’s Choice Country Awards.
When ratings were released after the PCCAs, it was revealed that the show had an impressive total viewership of 3.9 million. By far, the most-viewed performance from the People’s Choice Country Awards is Toby Keith’s performance of “Don’t Let the Old Man In.” At the time of this writing, the official video has over 3.2 million views on YouTube alone.
NBC has picked up the People’s Choice Country Awards for a second year.
There is good news for fans who enjoyed the show in 2023, it was just announced that the PCCAs will return for a second year! Jen Neal, executive vice president for NBCUniversal Entertainment, said in a statement:
“With powerhouse performances, heartfelt tributes to country legends, and surprise moments, last year’s inaugural People’s Choice Country Awards was a huge success. We look forward to returning to the Grand Ole Opry House in 2024 to honor and celebrate the country community.”
Save the date: the show will air live from the Grand Ole Opry House on Thursday, Sept. 26, 2024, at 8 p.m. ET/PT across NBC and Peacock!
