Thomas Rhett And Blake Shelton Released A Duet In July 2025
Thomas Rhett released his album About a Woman in August 2024, but a little over a year later, he dropped the deluxe version of the album, including nine extra songs.

The Deluxe Edition of the album also included a fun duet with Blake Shelton titled “Old Tricks.”
While promoting the song, it was a running joke that Blake Shelton didn’t have time to film any content so they had to go get a few lookalikes to stand in his place. It made the lyric video comical and memorable!

A couple months went by and Thomas Rhett revealed he’d be releasing “Old Tricks” again, but with a new singer.
Thomas Rhett Replaces Blake Shelton On Duet
In a video promoting the new duet, Thomas Rhett seems to text Blake Shelton, writing, “Hey man, I know you weren’t available to shoot content for Old Tricks. But I found a really good stand in for you. He wasn’t at the lookalike contest but he’s been a friend for a long time and is a pretty good singer.”
Rhett added, “I think you might actually know him.”
After Shelton asked who Rhett was thinking about, Niall Horan was added to their group chat.
Shelton typed, “NIALL?! Let me get this straight, first you steal my last chance at a win on The Voice and now you’re stealing my song? Unbelievable.”
Niall responded with a GIF of them from their time on The Voice, and said, “Talk to ya later, Dad!”

As fans will remember, Shelton and Horan joked on the one season they were on The Voice together that they were father and son.
Being Irish, one might think that Horan doesn’t know the first thing about country music, but actually, his voice is well-suited for this duet! And thanks to Season 28 of The Voice, he is actually working with a number of country singers! Maybe they gave him some pointers before recording the song.
Take a listen to the new version of “Old Tricks” below.
