“Duck Dynasty” matriarch Kay Robertson is recovering after suffering a leg injury.
In a new episode of Allie Beth Stuckey’s Relatable podcast, Al and Jase Robertson opened up about their parents’ health struggles.
In the 45-minute interview, the Robertson brothers gave a candid glimpse into their dad, Phil’s Alzheimer’s diagnosis and blood disorder battle, and their mom’s recent injury and hospitalization.
The brothers have been open about Phil and Miss Kay’s health since making Phil’s Alzheimer’s diagnosis public at the end of 2024. In addition to being diagnosed with Alzheimer’s, Phil has endured multiple back surgeries to repair injuries caused by a blood disorder that doctors have likened to a blood cancer.
“It kind of attacks his bones, so he’s had multiple back fractures, and even one in his tailbone,” Jase said, adding that the issues aren’t “correctable,” but doctors are able to perform a procedure to make it less painful for Phil.
Jase revealed that Kay suffered a “horrific” injury to her leg after falling.
Jase recalled that he was getting ready to take the stage for a speaking engagement when he was notified that Kay had fallen and severely cut her leg. He received a picture of his mom’s injury and a message from her caretaker saying that they were taking her to the hospital.
“He sent me a picture of her wound and it was horrific…I thought it was life-threatening because it just looked so terrible on her leg,” Jase said. “It was to the bone on her leg, right at the knee cap.” Thankfully, doctors were able to take care of Miss Kay’s injury with stitches and a brace.
In the latest episode of Duck Call Room, the brothers further described the incident as “a horror show.”
The brothers shared that the decision to move their parents away from the house they have long called home wasn’t easy.
Jase recalled the hour-long conversation he and his brother Willie had to have with their mom regarding the move, saying that “they’re at an age where they’re not thinking rationally,” Jase said. “It was a difficult conversation. She wants to be at her home, and I get it. They’ve lived there 50 years.”

The family promised Phil and Kay that their belongings and pets would be taken care of. After a tough conversation that included Willie “stating the obvious,” that “Kay, you can’t walk, and Phil doesn’t know where he is on any given day,” they agreed to be moved closer to family where they could be better taken care of.
