Miranda Lambert posted the heartbreaking news on Instagram revealing her beloved Great Pyrenees has died.
Lambert’s post details the special bond she had with Thelma ever since she adopted her in May of 2016. She originally adopted Thelma and her doppelgänger, Louise, to watch over the singer’s farm located just outside of Nashville, Tennessee, where she has her chickens, kitties, and mini horses.
The “House That Built Me” singer got Thelma and Louise at a pivotal time in her life as she was just recently divorced from Blake Shelton. She posted on instagram when she got the two pups saying, “In honor of the 25th anniversary of ‘Thelma and Louise’… Meet Thelma and Louise! I adopted these two beauties from Texas to keep watch over the mini horses!”

Lambert said that she brought Thelma and Louise from Dallas to Nashville on her bus, and fell in love with them on the 10 hour drive.
Her post states, “Yesterday we had to say goodbye to our sweet Thelma. She spent her days lounging in the barn and her nights keeping watch over all of us. She lived the last 8 years with no fences, just freedom to do what she did best. Love and protect. I loved her with all my heart. 💙”
Miranda also updated us on Thelma’s sidekick, Louise, saying she “has retired from her farm duties and is getting all the more love and snuggles…”
Losing a pet is never easy, but these two have been through a lot together making the loss even more tragic.
“It hurts so bad to say goodbye to these sweet companions but their love is always worth it. How lucky are we do get to have friends like Thelma. I am so proud to have been part of her story. Thank you to my friends and farm managers Julia and Tommy for taking such good care of her and everyone of my fur babies and loving them like they are your own. We all miss you Telm Telm.”
“💔Y’all don’t forget , love a shelter pet,” the singer concludes.
