Although the search for Katy Perry’s replacement on American Idol is still ongoing, several well-known names have been mentioned as possible choices. According to Luke Bryan, a few celebrity favorites have already been discussed.

Katy Perry, who has judged American Idol alongside Lionel Richie and Luke Bryan since 2018, announced her departure during an appearance on Jimmy Kimmel Live! in February. She explained that she wants to concentrate on her music career and release new songs, something she hasn’t done since her last album came out in 2020.

“I love the show so much, but I want to go and see the world and maybe bring new music,” Perry said. “It’s going to be a very, very exciting year for all pop star girlies,” she continued. “Let’s just say I’m creating space for my new wingspan.”

In an interview with Entertainment Tonight, Luke Bryan mentioned a few famous names that have been discussed as possible replacements. When asked who he would like to see replace Perry, Luke said several names have come up, including Pink, Miley Cyrus, and Meghan Trainor. He added, “We’ll see who they come up with. Katy is a tough one to replace.”

Although no one has been confirmed yet, there have been plenty of rumors about who might take her place. Katy Perry herself has said she would like to see Jelly Roll take her spot. Another name that came up was American Idol season one winner Kelly Clarkson, who has confirmed she won’t be joining, as she wants to stay with her kids in New York City.

In the end, Katy Perry hopes whoever takes her place has one very important quality.

“I want a truth teller. I want someone that is not afraid to tell the truth in a graceful way,” she said.
