Lauren Alaina And Her Husband, Cam Arnold, Welcomed Their First Child On June 11
Two months after welcoming her daughter, Lauren Alaina is opening up about her birth story.
Lauren and her husband, Cam Arnold, welcomed their first child on June 11. Lauren gave birth to a beautiful baby girl: Beni Doll Arnold.
“The right words are hard to find to describe how parts of my heart that I didn’t even knew existed were unlocked at 8:44 am when they laid you on my belly for the first time,” Lauren wrote in her birth announcement. “I will never be the same. You, to your dad and me, are absolute perfection. We are honored God chose us to be your parents. Thank you to everyone for all of the love, prayers and support for our precious daughter.”

Lauren and Cam later shared the meaning behind their daughter’s unique name. She is named in honor of multiple family members. Her first name “Beni,” honors Lauren’s grandpa Benny, who helped raise Lauren and bought her first karaoke machine.
Cam and Lauren wondered how to spell “Benny” for their daughter. When they learned that “Beni” with an “i” meant “crimson” in Japanese, they knew that was the perfect spelling.
“My [late] dad was a huge Alabama fan, and the fact that Beni means crimson feels like my dad said ‘roll tide’ from heaven and told us how to spell it,” Lauren said.
As for Beni’s middle name, “Doll,” it honors Cam’s aunt Lucy Doll Arnold. She never had children of her own, so he wanted to give his daughter her middle name to keep her legacy alive.
Lauren Alaina Fights Back Tears While Telling Her Birth Story
Recently, Lauren Alaina sat down with Entertainment Tonight to share Beni’s birth story. She got choked up as she recalled the “scary” experience.
“We had kind of a scary birth. Her umbilical cord was wrapped around her neck and up under her shoulder, and then between her legs. So every time I pushed, her heart rate plummeted.”
With tears in her eyes, Lauren said:
“It kind of became like an emergency scenario, where we had to get her out. It was a very scary time. When they handed her to me…it makes me want to cry thinking about it. When she made that first like [sound]…I looked over at my husband and he was hysterically sobbing.”

Lauren’s Father Died Unexpectedly Just A Few Weeks Before She Learned She Was Pregnant
After sharing her birth story, Lauren Alaina spoke about losing her father, J.J. Suddeth, just a few weeks before she learned she was expecting Beni.
“I was very, very close with my dad,” she said. “[He was] a very important person in my life. So many people have said to me that they think my dad sent the baby. And I do believe that, because I needed her. There was like a gaping wound in my heart, and she helped heal it. She will never know what a gift she’s been for us.“
On August 8, Lauren released a new song in honor of her father, called, “Little Things.” The song is about love and loss, and learning to find value in the “little things” in life.
As Lauren explained when describing her intention for the song, it’s “…for anyone learning to let go of the noise and hold tight to what really matters.“
