Lainey Wilson and her fiancé, Devlin “Duck” Hodges, aren’t as far along in their wedding planning as many might expect.
Wilson and Hodges got engaged in February when he proposed on the front porch of George Jones’ former Tennessee estate. The country star and the retired NFL player had been together for nearly four years, starting their relationship back in 2021.
But even though they’ve been together for quite a long time, the couple isn’t in a rush to get married. Wilson has even joked about it before, saying she is going to make Hodges wait since he took so long to propose.
In all seriousness, though, they have said that planning their wedding has been tough with their busy schedules. With Wilson constantly on the road, finding time to sit down and sort out details hasn’t been easy. So, how far have they actually gotten into planning their big day?

According to Wilson, it may surprise some people how little they’ve actually done…
In a recent interview with Taste of Country Nights, the “Whirlwind” singer admits that nearly six months into their engagement, she and Hodges have hardly planned a thing.
“Well, you ain’t gonna believe this but we still have not planned it, bless his heart,” Wilson said. “It just seems like everything else is getting planned [instead].”
Wilson explained that she and her team are already booking shows as far as 2027. The busier her schedule gets, the fewer openings there are for a wedding.
However, Wilson said that she and Hodges still make time to talk about what they want for their wedding whenever they can.
“Of course we sit around and talk about like, what we would want,” she clarified. “Just trying to figure out is it [the wedding] big or small? Is cousin so-and-so coming? Is cousin so-and-so not?”

There may not be a clear vision for what their wedding will look like, but they are definitely tossing around ideas. Wilson even threw out the thought of “probably riding in on some horses and riding out on some horses.”
Another idea she shared might surprise some fans: no country music at their reception.
Instead, she’s envisioning a jazz-themed celebration.
“I do think that…we want to have some kind of jazz music of some sort, who knows?”
