Variety describes Reminders of Him as a “transformative feature film about motherhood, forgiveness and the power of one love to heal even the most shattered heart.”
The movie will follow Kenna Rowan, a woman who returns home after spending five years in prison due to “a tragic mistake.” Kenna desires to rebuild her relationship with her daughter, while everyone else fights to keep them apart. Local bar owner Ledger Ward seems to be the only person who hasn’t pushed Kenna away.
Hoover’s Reminders of Him debuted in 2022. Since then, the novel has sold over 6.5 million copies and been translated into 45 languages.
The movie is set for a theatrical release on February 13, 2026.
The Country Star Has Prior Acting Experience
Hoover shared in a post on Instagram that Wilson will play a character named Amy in Reminders of Him. Wilson commented, “Couldn’t be more excited to be your Amy!”
Her co-stars include Maika Monroe (Kenna), Tyriq Withers (Ledger), Rudy Pankow (Scotty Landry), Lauren Graham, Bradley Whitford, and Nicholas Duvernay.
While this is Wilson’s first time acting in a movie, she’s not new to acting. She previously played a country singer named Abby in Yellowstone‘s fifth season. Abby served as a love interest to Ryan (played by Ian Bohen).
Yellowstone ended after Season 5, but Wilson remains open to returning to the Dutton universe. Multiple spin-offs are reportedly in the works, and she hasn’t ruled out any potential appearances in those shows.
“We’ll see,” she said at the 2025 Grammy Awards. “I mean, [Yellowstone creator] Taylor Sheridan is full of surprises and ideas. So if he calls and said, let’s keep the story going, I’m there.”
