Country music superstar Kenny Chesney recently made headlines for his extraordinary generosity in Massachusetts.

In a heartwarming gesture, the singer-songwriter quietly donated an impressive sum of over $1 million to various local charities and organizations, according to local news outlet Mass Live.

At the end of August, Chesney was scheduled to perform at Gillette Stadium in Foxborough, Massachusetts, to wrap up his Sun Goes Down Tour. And for his grand finale, he chose to use his time and efforts to help give back across the state.

Chesney’s kindness benefitted several causes.

The “Take Her Home” singer donated to the Boston Medical Center and, according to the outlet, $100,000 each to the Foxborough Police Department and Foxborough Fire Department.

Chesney’s giving didn’t stop there. He also gave back to the Animal Rescue League of Boston, the Worcester Animal Rescue League, and Music & Youth, which is a program that teaches music to young kids.

A spokesperson told Mass Live, “Kenny loves the people of who’ve been such a part of the Gillette experience over all these years. As someone who likes to quietly give back, to enrich others’ lives, this is his way of spreading the love and saying thank you for everything that’s made all these stadium shows so special. To him, it’s a gift for others, not something he wants to talk about.”

Representatives from each organization told the outlet how they plan to use Kenny Chesney’s generous donations.

Music & Youth’s CEO, Gary Eichhorn, called the gift “a very nice surprise.” He said the money will help with training, general support, and new equipment. Eichhorn explained that their nonprofit is “always needing to upgrade the technology as music has gone more tech.”

Jackie Smith from the Animal Rescue League of Boston was also thrilled. She said the donation will “help put pets and people together” and support efforts to keep pets out of shelters.

The Worcester Animal Rescue League has big plans too. Kristin Mullins, their executive director, told Mass Live, “We will use this money to help get our animals healthy.” She mentioned they’ve seen more animals needing medical care lately.

What a way to say “thank you” to his Massachusetts fans who have supported Chesney for years and wrap up his Sun Goes Down Tour!

In a touching social media post to say a “bittersweet goodbye” to the tour, Chesney wrote:

“I’ve needed a couple days to regroup, to make sure the three nights at [Gillette Stadium] in Foxboro, MA wasn’t an illusion or a dream. The ringing in my ears tells me it really happened, that it was real. I’ve never felt so much love and raw energy at once, and it kept growing after each night.”
