Kelly Clarkson Has Become The Queen Of Halloween

Over the years, it’s become a tradition for Kelly Clarkson to throw a full-on Halloween bash on The Kelly Clarkson Show.

The singer always goes all out. She and her band, My Band Y’all, dress up in elaborate costumes while the entire set also gets decked out for the holiday.

Each year, Clarkson also performs a Halloween-themed song. Fans might remember when she and her backup singers dressed as the Sanderson sisters from Hocus Pocus and performed “I Put a Spell on You,” or when she went viral for her rendition of “Monster Mash.”

For The Kelly Clarkson Show‘s 2025 Halloween special, Clarkson and her crew took things back to the 1940s, channeling a vintage murder mystery theme.

In a video shared on Instagram, Clarkson gave fans a sneak peek at her film noir look. The clip starts with her in everyday clothes before transitioning to her full costume. She’s wearing a short blonde curly wig, large diamond jewelry, and a satin red gown.

Her band is dressed to match the theme, wearing white tuxedos and floor-length dresses.

The video then switches to black and white to give it that classic old-time feel. We then see a few behind-the-scenes moments from the fun day.

Kelly’s Ode To Dick Tracy

PEOPLE shared a first look at Clarkson’s Halloween episode before its airtime. The outlet revealed that her Kellyoke pick was Stephen Sondheim’s Academy Award-winning track “Sooner or Later.” The song was originally performed by Madonna in the 1990 film Dick Tracy.

During her show’s opening monologue, Clarkson said she has “been obsessed” with the movie since she was a little kid. The Grammy-winning singer and her band even added a little nod to the film with their own mystery on set.

As Clarkson introduces her band to the audience, she notices that her music director, Jason, is missing. This leaves only one question… “Whodunit?!”
