Dwayne “Rock” Johnson gave his mom such an incredible surprise that she couldn’t hold back her tears. The professional wrestler-turned-actor gifted his mom a new home and shared some a glimpse of her reaction on social media.
73-year-old Ata Johnson was overcome with emotion as she walked through the doors of her new home. Dwayne shared that while he’s been able to purchase a few homes for his mom over this years, this was one different.
“After a lifetime of traveling, I want this home to be my last. That’s my dream,” the 50-year-old recalled his mother saying to him.

Johnson added that it took him and a design team eight weeks to the home move-in ready for his mom. The team created a family room where Ata’s vintage ukulele collection is on display as well as framed family photos on the wall.
“I was able to unearth pictures of our ancestors that she hasn’t seen since she was a child growing up in Samoa,” Dwayne wrote. “She misses her mom and dad. I miss them too.”
A video clip shows the moment Ata spots the photos and fights back tears as her hands gently touch the pictures of her loved ones.

The final clip shows Mrs. Johnson entering her new “Smackdown Room,” a room solely dedicated to memorabilia from her son’s career. Dwayne shared that she has always had such a room, but that they had become overcrowded.
“…Over the years they’ve become insanely crowded – so for her new home, I had these cool built-ins made and just added only a few memorabilia items – Posters, University of Miami game balls, movie awards, championship titles etc. Figured she can add whatever she wants from here,” The Rock wrote.
He added that while it’s his mom’s favorite room to show off to guests, it’s his least favorite.
“Because the last thing I want to do is stand in a DJ Shrine while people look around as my mom takes them thru at all the stuff I’ve done. No thanks,” he shared before adding that the room does serve as a reminder for him to be grateful and to remember where he came from.
