Phil And Kay Robertson Of Duck Dynasty Fame Have Been Struggling With Their Health
Duck Dynasty stars Phil and Kay Robertson are both dealing with some health problems. At this point, their health issues are serious enough that they had to move out of their beloved Louisiana home so they could be closer to town. By moving, it makes it easier for their family to care for them and see to their medical needs.
Phil, the patriarch of the Robertson family, has been diagnosed with Alzheimer’s disease and a blood disorder. He’s also suffered several mini-strokes and has undergone multiple back surgeries.
“He’s got two things working against him, physically and then mentally, and so they’re compounding each other,” Phil’s son, Jase, said on one episode of the Robertson family’s Unashamed podcast. “We’re doing our best to make him comfortable.”

In another episode of Unashamed, Phil and Kay’s oldest son, Al, explained why his dad keeps “hanging on.” He said even in the midst of his health struggles, Phil wants to be strong for Kay.
“He still has a sense of purpose in watching out for mom. She had a pretty bad year last year, physically had a lot of issues,” Al said. “I think he feels like that’s part of the reason he has to hang in there and hang on. Because he helps take care of her, and she helps take care of him.”
Willie And Jase Robertson Share Update On Their Parents
Phil and Kay’s sons, Willie and Jase, recently stopped by another Duck Dynasty podcast, The Duck Call Room, to share an update on their parents’ health.
They said Kay is doing pretty well despite suffering a pretty nasty fall recently. They said Phil has good days and bad days.
Willie and Jase also explained the dynamic between them and their other brothers, Al and Jep, saying they are often the “bad cops” with their parents while Al and Jep are the “good cops.”
Jase and Willie said neither Phil nor Kay can get up and move around that well, and they need “24/7 supervision.“
The brothers shared that their parents haven’t fully “moved out” of their house but have moved away for the time being to get more consistent care. Despite their health problems, both Phil and Kay have expressed a desire for independence, which sometimes causes conflict with their sons.
Willie and Jase have also done their best to find small moments of joy while caring for their parents. They got to laughing at one point as they described how picky their parents (particularly Phil) have been about their meals.
While helping Phil and Kay through their health problems, the Robertsons are also preparing to revive Duck Dynasty. The new show will follow Willie and Korie Robertson, their children, and their grandchildren as they continue their family legacy. Other members of the Duck Dynasty and Duck Commander family will appear in the show, including Uncle Si. However, Phil will not be included in the new series.
