Carrie Underwood had some special guests join her for Donald Trump’s inauguration, where she performed.
Carrie Underwood was joined by her husband, Mike Fisher, and oldest son, nine-year-old Isaiah, at Monday’s inauguration events at the United States Capitol. Underwood was tapped to sing “America The Beautiful” during the swearing-in ceremony and experienced some technical difficulties that led to a now-viral a cappella performance from the star.
Following the ceremony, Underwood and her family attended the president’s inaugural luncheon. Attendees captured photos of Carrie, Mike, and Isaiah and a video of Carrie visiting with the newly elected president’s daughter, Ivanka.
Carrie and Mike also posed for photos with other guests, including Tennessee Senator Marsha Blackburn.
Carrie Underwood participated in other inaugural events, including the candlelight dinner the night before the inauguration.
The 2025 Presidential Candlelight Dinner was held at the National Building Museum in Washington, D.C. Sunday evening (January 19). The black-tie event was invitation-only and was attended by some of Donald Trump’s most loyal supporters and biggest campaign donors.

Carrie Underwood stole the show during the inauguration.
Carrie Underwood took the stage after President Donald Trump delivered an inauguration speech. The American Idol champ was scheduled to perform “America The Beautiful” with the help of an accompaniment track, the Armed Forces Chorus, and the U.S. Naval Academy Glee Club.
After the accompaniment track failed to play, Underwood made the decision to sing the son a cappella. She invited those in attendance to “help” her by singing along. The performance turned into a beautiful bipartisan moment of unity.

Carrie’s appearance at the inauguration came after some intense backlash.
When it was announced one week ago that Carrie Underwood would be performing at Donald Trump’s inauguration, critics emerged from all sides.
The news came as a surprise to Underwood’s fans as she has notoriously stays politically neutral over the course of her career. She issued a statement at the time, saying:
“I love our country and am honored to have been asked to sing at the Inauguration and to be a small part of this historic event,” she said. “I am humbled to answer the call at a time when we must all come together in the spirit of unity and looking to the future.”
Little did Carrie know that her performance would indeed be unifying as officials and dignitaries from both sides joined together to sing “America The Beautiful.”
