As Underwood has become a familiar face for viewers tuning in every weekend, many have become curious about how much the country star earns from the song. Numerous reports have suggested that she makes a staggering $1 million weekly for singing “Waiting All Day for Sunday Night.” With the season lasting 18 weeks, that totals an impressive $18 million for the entire season.

These reports went viral, shocking many people with the large amount. Some even pointed out that Underwood would be making more per week than some football players earn in an entire year if this were true.

However, the Denim & Rhinestones singer has already addressed this long-standing rumor.

“Is it true, it’s 18 million dollars a year?” Stern asked Underwood.

Underwood, clearly confused, responded with a firm “No” and confirmed that her gig with the NFL is “pretty pro bono.”

“I wish,” Underwood said about making the large amount of money. “That’d be great. That’d be awesome. [Google] steered you wrong there.”

Although she didn’t disclose how much she actually makes, it seems that Underwood primarily takes on the theme song each year because she feels honored to be a part of it.

“I grew up watching football and just to kind of have a small part of it…I’ve had players come up to me, and they’re like ‘You get me revved up’ and it’s really cool,” Underwood said.
