During a recent interview, Blake Shelton gave fans a glimpse into how the couple celebrated their third wedding anniversary.
Blake and Gwen first crossed paths on the set of The Voice in 2014. At that time, both were navigating difficult divorces—Gwen from Gavin Rossdale and Blake from Miranda Lambert.
Officially dating in 2015, their relationship quickly captured public attention. After five years together, Blake proposed to Gwen on October 27, 2020. The couple tied the knot on July 3, 2021, in an intimate ceremony at Blake’s ranch in Oklahoma. Since their marriage, Blake has embraced his role as a stepfather to Gwen’s three sons, often expressing how much he loves being part of their family.
Blake has described his relationship with Gwen as the “easiest thing” he has ever been a part of. But it seems that wedding anniversary planning might not be their strong suit.

During a phone interview with the Bobby Bones Show, Blake was asked about how he and Gwen handle anniversary gifts.
Laughing on the other end of the line, Blake described this year’s celebration as a bit “pathetic.” He explained that their anniversary took place at the same time Gwen was filming for The Voice, and that it was “just the way things worked out.”
Blake humorously referred to those days as the “longest as spoiled entertainers.” Gwen apparently had to wake up at 5 am and work until 10 or 11 pm filming the Blind Auditions. However, she still managed to carve out a moment to give Blake his anniversary gift.
“She came in that morning right before she left…and she was literally walking out the food and she had a box. She was like, ‘This is really stupid, but I looked it up, and the three-year anniversary traditional gift is leather.'”
Blake said when he opened the box, he found a leather phone case and leather-scented car fresheners that you hang on your review mirror, among other items. Gwen quickly gave Blake the present before she said she had to go, and that was basically it.
“So that was this year. Our first year anniversary was a little more special. You know, we had actual gifts,” noting that they had time for a more meaningful celebration then.
“But this year was like, ‘Hey! We made it three years. I’ll see ya later!'”

In case you were curious, Blake had something a bit more special planned for their first wedding anniversary.
He ordered cakes and Italian desserts from Gold Belly, a company that delivers food from restaurants across the country. They ended up enjoying the desserts the next day, which happened to be the Fourth of July.
“I’m embarrassed. It wasn’t the best, I admit it,” he confessed.
