Ashley McBryde Honors Toby Keith With “Wish I Didn’t Know Now” Tribute Performance

The Toby Keith: American Icon tribute concert brought together some of Nashville’s brightest stars.

Among them was the talented Ashley McBryde, who delivered a moving performance honoring Toby Keith. The “Light On In The Kitchen” singer was just one of the star performers who sang at the charity concert. Luke Bryan, Carrie Underwood, Jelly Roll, Lainey Wilson, and more delivered their own moving tributes to the legend.

Toby Keith’s death on February 5, 2024, following his battle with stomach cancer, shook the entire country music world. Many country stars paid tribute to the late icon after hearing the devastating news.

To celebrate Toby Keith’s great contributions to the genre and his undeniable spirit, the country music community rallied together for an unforgettable night of music and memories at the American Icon tribute concert.

The two-hour concert special was filmed at the Bridgestone Arena in Nashville, Tennessee, on July 29. But don’t worry if you missed it! The special will air on NBC on Wednesday, August 28, at 9 p.m. ET/PT.

Opry member Ashley McBryde took center stage to perform Keith’s 1994 “Wish I Didn’t Know Now.”

The song was released as the fourth and final single from Toby Keith’s self-titled debut album. It peaked at No. 2 on the U.S. Billboard Hot Country Songs chart.

Known for her powerful vocals, McBryde’s rendition truly captured the essence of Keith’s musical legacy.

Ticket sales from the concert benefited the Toby Keith Foundation’s OK Kids Korral, a cost-free home for pediatric cancer patients in Keith’s home state of Oklahoma. Additionally, a portion of the proceeds were donated to the Monroe Carell Jr. Children’s Hospital at Vanderbilt in Nashville.
