Yellowstone has finally ended, and the actors are taking to social media to say goodbye to their characters and the show’s fans.

SPOILER ALERT!!! Spoilers for Season 5, Episode 14, will be discussed.

The finale of Yellowstone aired on Sunday (Dec 15). The two-hour episode tied things up perfectly for every character and lived up to the hype.

John Dutton was laid to rest next to his wife and his ancestors, Beth and Jamie Dutton’s feud came to a brutal end, the Yellowstone Ranch was saved from big developers and given back to its rightful owners, and Kayce Dutton and his family were able to start a new life free from the Yellowstone Ranch.

After receiving a cash severance, we saw the ranch hands move on to their next gig. A couple of ranch hands got new gigs at nearby ranches, while Teeter (Jennifer Landon) got a job at the 6666 Ranch in Texas alongside Jimmy, who is all too happy that a part of his Yellowstone family is finally with him. Walker, played by Ryan Bingham, decided to follow his girlfriend (and real-life wife, Hassie Harrison) on the rodeo circuit.

Ryan (Ian Bohen) drove to Texas to reunite with Abby (Lainey Wilson) as she was starting to make it big in country music. He professed his love for her, saying that ending things was a huge mistake, and asked for her back. She forgave him, kissed him, and gave him a job on her tour.

“Yellowstone” Finale Breakdown: The Answers We’ve Been Waiting For

How did Kayce’s story end?

Kayce and Beth sold the Yellowstone Dutton Ranch to Thomas Rainwater for $1.25 an acre, which is how much it would have cost if Kayce’s ancestors paid for it back in 1883.

Thomas vowed to never sell it, and to never let anyone develop any part of the land. Rainwater immediately declared the entirety of the ranch a wilderness area, where not even a car or a bike could enter. The only way to get around what once was the Dutton family property is by foot or by horse.

Kayce asked to keep 300 acres of East Camp, where he had just moved with his wife and teenage son, Tate. His plan was to start a new cattle ranch on his own terms, under a new name. While we don’t know what name he chose for his brand, the episode showed him and Tate buying cows at a cattle auction and bringing them home.

After signing the legal papers, Kayce let out a cry of relief and told his wife, Monica, “I’m free,” and threw his Livestock Agent badge.

Kayce fought his whole life to separate himself from the Yellowstone Dutton Ranch, but he kept being drawn back in by his father. When laying his father to rest, Kayce told him, “I forgive you.”

His story ended with him, Monica, and Tate, all on horseback guiding their new herd to water.

Luke Grimes Says Goodbye

Just like a few of his co-stars, Luke Grimes said goodbye to the show and his character. He shared a photo of his character looking down next to a fire during one of his many powerful scenes over the past five seasons.

“End of an era. Goodbye Kayce. You are a better man than I. To my Yellowstone family, thank you for the experience of a lifetime,” he wrote.

His post garnered hundreds of comments from fans begging for a spinoff with Kayce and his family. Only time will tell if that will happen, but as of right now, a spin-off with Rip and Beth is in the works.
