One of the most famous yachts to ever exist, Dale Earnhardt‘s stunning piece of seafaring history is one you have to see to believe…
This 100-foot yacht that was built for a king boasts room for 10 people with five cabins and room for an additional four crew members. All-in-all, this floating mansion is bigger than most homes on land!
“This yacht is infamous. Everyone in the Eastern NC marine manufacturing industry knows the legend of this yacht,” one viewer explained. “From shooting the first gel coat to final finishing, no detail was spared. She is built like a tank and is like no other at any size or cost. She has a history of her own.”
Christened as the “Sunday Money” after a song that Dale Sr. co-wrote alongside country duo Brooks & Dunn, the yacht was ordered by Earnhardt just before his unexpected death in 2001.
During a 1993 NASCAR awards banquet, a special video set to the tune of the song was played in Earnhardt’s honor – and commemorated his 6th Cup Series win.
While Earnhardt never got a chance to sail in the boat (as it wasn’t finished until after his death), his widow Teresa kept it until 2012, after which it was sold to another owner who made great effort to keep the NASCAR champion’s spirit alive with this unique piece of history.
Sunday Money has been owned by one additional person since then, and now is up for sale – if you happen to have a spare $4.2 million, it can be yours!
Still, to this day, the yacht has retained almost all of the original furnishings picked out and designed by Dale Earnhardt Sr. and includes his signature compass rose design (part of the DEI logo) embedded into the flooring and window etchings, silver plates with a monogram “D” – and even a Snap-On brand toolbox in the engine room.
Filled with some of the most beautiful finishes and looks you could ever imagine, this yacht is both available for purchase and rental. If you can’t quite pick up the bill on this hefty $4.2 million price tag – you could always charter it for a week!
For only $45-$55K, you can sail around the ocean blue on Earnhardt’s famous yacht and that price includes all expenses! What a bargain!
