The Yankees Have Finally Allowed Beards For The First Time In 50 Years, With One Caveat

Worlds collide between the reality show family known for their beards and the baseball team known for being beardless in the most comical way.

The television series Duck Dynasty, which features a family from West Monroe, Louisiana, has recently been in the headlines due to health issues.

The family’s patriarch, Phil Robertson, was diagnosed with Alzheimer’s disease in 2024.

However, today’s headline focuses on a more humorous note. The Robertson family is recognized for their Christian conservative values and their long, uncut beards.

In a past interview with Jimmy Kimmel, Phil Robertson shared a funny anecdote about the reason behind their long beards. He mentioned,There are two kinds of people on planet Earth who do not have beards, Kimmel. Women and children, I am neither.Jimmy Kimmel, who is clean-shaven, humorously responded,I might be both.

What Does This Have To Do With The Yankees?

In contrast, the New York Yankees baseball team has been known for its clean-shaven players.

Recently, the 50-year policy requiring players to be clean-shaven was repealed, but with one stipulation.

Yankees player Garrett Cole shared with reporters that the general manager, Brian Cashman, stated that players could grow facial hair as long as they didn’t look like they were from Duck Dynasty.

Willie Robertson Responds To The Baseball Team’s Comment

Phil’s son, Willie Robertson, caught wind of this news and responded on Instagram.

He said, “So let me get this straight… The Yankees waited 50 years to allow beards, but their only rule is: don’t look like us? Hey, I’ve heard that before. Did y’all consult my wife or something?”

Willie joked about whether the players had consulted his wife, referring to a recurring theme in the series where the wives of the Duck Dynasty men often prefer them to shave their beards. This has been a fun storyline for the show’s fans.

Willie ended his Instagram caption by saying, “Now, while I agree not everyone can pull off this look, two things we know about growing up down here are beards and dynasties. If you’re gonna grow ‘em, you gotta go all in.”
