Jana Kramer wants everything to be perfect for her upcoming wedding to fiancé Allan Russell— and that includes walking down the aisle alone.
On a recent episode of her Whine Down podcast, the country singer/actress explained her unconventional decision. She shared that while she did consider having her father walk her down the aisle on her big day, she ultimately decided against it.
Even though it was her choice, Kramer’s soon-to-be husband was surprised at first.
“[I] questioned it because I didn’t agree with it,” he said. “I questioned it because I just wasn’t aware that you were gonna do it on your own.”
When Russell initially didn’t understand her decision, Kramer took the time to explain her deeply personal reasons.
“’It’s a walk that I need to take by myself,’” she told him. “And then that made me start crying, and I was like, ‘It’s taken me a long time to get here and I know that this will be the last walk I do alone.'”
She explained that walking alone toward her future husband is extremely meaningful to her, adding, “Even though I have walks with God and all that, but this is my last walk alone and I’m walking to you. That sentiment means something to me. Very symbolic.”
And just like Kramer, Russell also believes that the moment when she walks down the aisle is one of the most exciting moments of the entire day.
“For me — it’s not cliche, it’s just how I feel — but just watching her walking towards me is the piece I’m looking forward to the most,” he said.

The couple, who have been together since November 2022 and went public with their relationship in January 2023, have shared many special moments together over the past two years. On her podcast, Kramer recounted the details of Russell’s proposal, which took place during a family walk to the new home she is building. Russell proposed in front of Kramer and her children, Jolie (8) and Jace (5), making the moment even more memorable.
The couple also welcomed their first child together, Roman James, last November.
