One of the biggest career achievements is performing a 13-minute set on arguably the biggest stage in music…the Super Bowl halftime show.

From Shania Twain, to Aerosmith, to Beyoncè, to Michael Jackson, to The Who, the halftime performers are some of the most legendary names in every genre.

In 2023, a record-breaking 118 million people tuned in to watch Rihanna perform during halftime of Super Bowl LVII. In 2024, the viewership record was broken again, with 123.7 million people watching, making it the most watched telecast in history.

Some might say that those extra five million were part of the Taylor Swift effect. She has been making headlines lately due to her relationship to Kansas City Chiefs’ tight end Travis Kelce.

If she is bringing in those numbers, why hasn’t she ever headlined the Super Bowl Halftime Show? We will answer that for you!

Why Hasn’t Taylor Swift Ever Performed At The Super Bowl?

Taylor Swift is arguably the biggest star on the planet, and has been for years. But there is a good reason why she hasn’t ever been asked to perform the halftime show at the Super Bowl.

For this year’s show, she was booked and busy. Yes, she was able to attend the event, but she had just traveled from Japan, where she performed four shows. She had to get back on her plane to go to Melbourne, Australia for more of her The Eras Tour dates. When the halftime show was being booked, she definitely wasn’t planning on being in attendance, seeing how the artist has months and months to prepare their set.

Usher’s 2024 show was Apple Music’s second year as the sponsor of the Super Bowl halftime show.

From 2012-2022, Pepsi was the sponsor of the halftime show. Prior to that, the sponsor was Bridgestone.

In early 2013, Swift was revealed a long-time partnership with Diet Coke and remained the face of the brand until 2019.

Due to that partnership, she was unable to perform the halftime show because a competing brand, Pepsi, was the halftime sponsor.

If her schedule clears up next year, she could definitely be on the short list of performers!
