Actress Mamie Laverock sustained life-threatening injuries when she fell from a five-story balcony walkway in May
Mamie Laverock, best known for her role as Rosaleen Sullivan in the Hallmark series When Calls The Heart, was admitted to the hospital on May 11th for an undisclosed medical emergency. Shortly after, she was moved to St. Paul’s Hospital in Vancouver, British Columbia.
After two weeks of intensive treatment, an update was shared via a GoFundMe page that a horrible accident had occurred. They shared that Mamie has been “escorted out of a secure unit of the hospital and taken up to a balcony walkway from which she fell five stories.”
The then 19-year-old sustained life-threatening injuries from the fall and was placed on life support as a result.
Mamie Laverock’s family says she has endured “tremendous pain and continues to not give up”
Family members of the young actress shared periodic updates during her recovery. In early June, they revealed that Mamie had undergone two 11-hour surgeries and at least one three-hour surgery. They wrote:
“We can only hold onto the miracles of each day and continue to thank everyone for their prayers and marvel at the miracles of her story . Our daughter loves her life and loves her family and is fighting hard everyday.”
Additionally, Mamie’s mother, Nicole, confirmed to the LA Times that her daughter’s fall was unintentional, calling the situation a “negligence-type case.”
Mamie Laverock celebrated her 20th birthday in the hospital
On July 14th, Nicole shared photos from Mamie’s 20th birthday, showing her awake and interacting with friends and family. They referred to the celebration as “Mamie’s Miracle Birthday.”
Mamie Laverock shares a message of gratitude
As of July 20th, the family has officially closed the GoFundMe account, which raised a total of $39,022 CAD.
The actress herself shared an update on the page, which read:
“Thank you so much. I don’t even know what to say. My heart is full.
Thank you again.
I have no words to describe my gratitude.
Love you guys.Thank you.
MAMIE”
