What is the controversy between Morgan Wallen and SNL?

Country music superstar Morgan Wallen was the musical guest on the March 29th production of Saturday Night Live (SNL). Oscar-winning actress Mikey Madison hosted the episode, a part of the show’s landmark 50th season.

This was Wallen’s second time on SNL, having previously visited the show in December 2020. During his recent appearance, the 31-year-old performed “I’m The Problem” and “Just In Case,” both of which will be included on his upcoming album.

However, what happened at the end of the episode had fans puzzled.

Traditionally, the cast, host, and musical guests of SNL remain on stage to celebrate together as the end credits roll. After Madison closed out the show, Wallen gave her a quick hug and walked off the stage.

Some speculated that this was simply a misunderstanding and that the country singer exited the stage the same way he had in rehearsal.

Other viewers were upset by the move, calling it disrespectful.

Neither Morgan Wallen nor SNL have commented publicly on the situation, but the “Last Night” singer posted an Instagram story shortly after his departure that read, “Get me to God’s country.”

Joe Jonas Reportedly Replaced Morgan Wallen For SNL Sketch

As reported by Page Six, Morgan Wallen was offered a cameo in a pre-recorded sketch titled “Big Dumb Line,” which aired during the same episode of SNL.

The comedic skit revolves around New Yorkers’ tendency to wait in long lines to get the latest trending food item, from pizza to croissants.

The Tennessee native reportedly turned down the role and was replaced by Joe Jonas, according to PEOPLE. His reason for declining the offer is unknown.

Wallen previously participated in a sketch for his debut appearance on SNL in 2020, which made jokes at his own expense after he was seen violating COVID protocol and partying in Alabama.
