Noah Spencer Charms Voice Coaches By Singing Zach Bryan’s “Something In The Orange” During Blind Auditions

The Voice coaches on Season 24 were instantly intrigued by 20-year-old Noah Spencer’s voice. They sat and listed for awhile as he offered up his rendition of Zach Bryan‘s popular song, “Something in the Orange.”

Spencer has a gravelly tone to his voice that “Something in the Orange” gave him the chance to showcase. That gravelly sound is what influenced three of the four coaches to turn their chairs for him.

Those coaches were Reba McEntire, Niall Horan, and Gwen Stefani.

After the song, John Legend explained why he didn’t turn his chair. He personally doesn’t like a gravelly tone, but that’s just his own style. He said Spencer’s audition was still “a really great performance.”

The Voice Coaches Make Their Pitches To Noah Spencer

The three coaches who did turn their chairs for Spencer tried to win him over with their respective pitches. McEntire kicked things off, and complimented the gritty tone of his voice:

“I love the gravel in your voice, that is so cool.” Continuing on, she said, “I loved everything about your performance, your tone, your gravelness of your voice. And I would love to be your coach.”

Horan went next. He made it clear he was a huge fan of Spencer’s performance:

“First of all that was, ridiculous. Honestly one of my favorite types of voices that you can find on the Earth,” he said. “I love a gravelly growl like that.”

Horan is familiar with “Something in the Orange,” as he’s covered it himself. He felt it “was the perfect song” for Spencer to sing, calling him “a super talent.”

Stefani also complimented the tone of Spencer’s voice. She said:

I don’t really think there’s anyone like you in this whole competition right now. America loves that kind of a voice, and I think you’re gonna get like a lot of eyes on you on this show. You have a lot of raw talent...”

Who Did Noah Spencer Pick To Be His Coach On The Voice?

Spencer had a tough choice to make! He even admitted it was “the toughest decision [he’s] ever had to make.”

After some thought, Spencer made his decision. He turned to Horan and said he wanted to join his team!

Horan was thrilled, to say the least. Look below to watch Spencer’s blind audition so you can fully understand his coach’s excitement.
