Footage Released Of Jimmy Buffett’s Final Performance (WATCH)

Just two months before he passed away, Jimmy Buffett made a surprise appearance at a Rhode Island bar for what would be his final public performance.

Mac McAnally, a longtime member of Jimmy Buffett’s Coral Reefer Band was performing a solo show in Portsmouth, Rhode Island, on July 2, when Buffett joined him. Buffett’s appearance was a huge surprise for fans since it was the first following a brief hospitalization that forced him to cancel shows.

McAnally was singing “It’s 5 O’Clock Somewhere” on stage at Sunset Cove, a popular cafe in the waterfront town. When he sang the familiar line, “At a moment like this, I can’t help but wonder, what would Jimmy Buffett do?” the man in question walked up on the stage, strapped on his guitar and began to sing.

Those in attendance say that Jimmy performed six songs for the crowd and took time to pose for photos.

The concert at Sunset Cove would be Jimmy Buffett’s last public performance before his death on September 1. According to his obituary published on his official website. the “Margaritaville” singer passed away at his home in Sag Harbor, Long Island, New York, at the age of 76. The obituary confirmed that his July 2 appearance in Rhode Island was his last.

Buffett was diagnosed with Merkel Cell Skin Cancer four years ago. TMZ reported that the cancer turned into lymphoma which eventually led to his death. The outlet also reported that Jimmy had been received hospice cancer for less than a week prior to his death.

An outpouring of tributes came from fans and friends around the world following his passing. Those tributes included songs from Kenny Chesney and Keith Urban and photos and statements from other country artists such as Alan Jackson, Toby Keith, Brad Paisley and more.
