This week on American Idol, contestants each had two opportunities to display their talent on stage
During the Top 8 round on American Idol, the aspiring singers performed songs selected by the judges in what is known as the Judges Song Contest. Each contestant was presented with three song choices but was not told which judge recommended which song.
At the end of the night, the judge who had the most song selections performed was allowed to save one contest from elimination.
In addition to these impressive solo performances, the contestants were paired up to perform duets celebrating the music of the Idol judges.
Triston Harper’s Top 8 performance
Triston Harper, the youngest contestant on this season of Idol, chose to perform a heartfelt cover of Morgan Wallen’s hit song “Sand In My Boots.” During rehearsals, he shared that it is a song he “listens to every day.”
