Casserole. Who knew that one word could elicit so many feelings? Casseroles often bring back memories of church potlucks or family dinners around the kitchen table. Most of us have a favorite casserole recipe or two that we just can’t get enough of. For Trisha Yearwood, that recipe is her mom’s Potato Beef Casserole.
During an episode of Trisha’s Southern Kitchen, the country singer was joined by her sister to make the family recipe that Trisha calls “Georgia comfort food at its finest!” Trisha shared on Facebook that the casserole is one of the first that her mom taught her how to make.

Trisha described the recipe on Southern Kitchen, saying:
“My mom’s Potato Beef Casserole is one of my all-time favorite comfort foods,” Trisha said. “It has this really awesome layer of sliced potatoes on the bottom. Then the mixture on the top is a combination of ground beef and onions and white sauce mixed with cheddar cheese. You put that all on top and you bake it and it’s like this amazing casserole. Somebody likened it to a cheeseburger on top of potatoes…and it pretty much is.”
We agree that this casserole is pretty darn delicious! And, it’s simple enough that even a novice cook can make it. Check out the recipe below for Trisha Yearwood’s Old-Fashioned Potato Beef Casserole.
