Brenda Lee Releases First-Ever Music Video As “Rockin’ Around The Christmas Tree” Turns 65 Years Old
Brenda Lee‘s holiday classic “Rockin’ Around the Christmas Tree” turns 65 years old this year (2023). To celebrate, Lee filmed a brand-new music video for the song, which she released on November 3.
This video is extra special, because it’s the first music video Lee has EVER released in her career. She told CMT she cried when she watched the video for the first time:
“I hope [viewers] take away a little magic of Christmas, because Christmas is not all gifts,” she said. “It’s blessings. It’s people. It’s dreams. It’s hopes. It’s a lot of things that I felt as a child growing up in Georgia that I thought to myself, ‘Maybe one day I’ll do this, or I’ll do that.’ And Lord knows I did it.”
Tanya Tucker & Trisha Yearwood Join Brenda Lee In Her New Holiday Music Video
Lee isn’t the only country star in the new video. She enlisted her good friends Trisha Yearwood and Tanya Tucker to appear alongside her in the clip!
“Trisha and Tanya are my buds,” Lee told CMT. “They’re always up for anything we ask each other. If one of them asks me to do something, I’ll do it. If I ask one of them, they’ll do it. So, I just thought it would be cool to have them on it.“
Yearwood and Tucker were honored to be involved in the video. Tucker gushed about her role in the project, saying:
“I was elated when I got the invite to be in Brenda Lee’s video. Her ONLY video EVER!!! It was released 65 years ago!!! She’s the Perennial Queen of Christmas in my book!!! It’s so timeless and one of my very favorite Christmas songs!!! Everybody loves this song and everyone loves Brenda Lee!! She’s my dearest friend and I’d do anything for her!“
