Ella Langley Takes A FaceTime Call From Thomas Rhett’s Grandmother

It seems everyone everywhere is taking a liking to the hit – even country superstar Thomas Rhett’s grandmother! And Rhett turned to an unexpected solution after she asked a question he couldn’t answer.

While spending time together, his grandmother brought up the opening lyrics of “Choosin’ Texas,” leaving Rhett unable to explain their meaning. Rather than leave it unresolved, he decided to call Langley directly on FaceTime.

Langley answered from backstage, where she was preparing to open for Eric Church, and took a moment to respond before heading on stage.

“I was at my mom’s house last week,” Rhett explained during an appearance on Country Countdown USA. “My grandmother is a huge Ella fan. She asked me what Ella meant by a line in “Choosin’ Texas.” I said, ‘Let’s Facetime her and ask her.'”

Rhett explained “Ella was so gracious” to then walk my grandma through the opening verse of the song. It sure is something special to see how the reach of “Choosin’ Texas” has extended across generations.
