It might sound unbelievable, but this WWII veteran is 106 years old!

Leslie Lemon, from Aylesbury, Buckinghamshire, UK, has lived through significant historical events, including World War II, the Great Depression, and the invention of the iPhone. It is truly incredible how many historic events this one man must have seen.

Born on July 1st, 1919, he is now sharing the secrets to a long life.

So, What Is The Secret To Living A Long Life?

It is not a healthy lifestyle or love, as others who have lived for many years have claimed. According to the war vet, it is… Custard?

You heard that right, Lemon claimed that the secret to longevity is custard. For the American audience, who might be less accustomed to custard, it is a pudding-like dessert. Custard is more popular in the UK than in the United States, but the dessert is packed with sugar and traditionally flavored vanilla.

Lemon’s favorite brand is Bird’s Custard, which gave him his own custard jug for his 100th birthday.

When interviewed about his love for custard, he said,

“The secret to a long life is custard. Rhubarb from the garden and custard. I eat it every day. I prefer it cold. It’s nice in a trifle. You can’t beat it.”

Lemon claimed that he ate custard every day alongside some rhubarb from the garden. Although this adorable quip is not real advice for longevity, it seems to work great for Lemon.

He is 106 years old yet said he has no “aches and pains” and overall feels great. He said,

“I don’t feel older at all. I’ve got no aches and pains. I don’t take any tablets or medications. I never see a doctor.”

So maybe we should all be more like Lemon and “always have a pudding.”

After his playful advice, he went on to emphasize moderation. He claimed that you can have “everything in moderation,” and he believes this approach has significantly impacted his health.

Lemon has eight grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren. He was married to his wife, Doreen, from 1944 until her death in 1999. The pair had three children together: Michael, Mary, and Richard. Sadly, Mary passed when she was only 10.

He served as a corporal from 1939 to 1946 during World War II.

Lemon gladly shared that he is “lucky” and “happy.” Sharing that video calls have changed his life.

“The thing that has changed the most is video calls. I can’t work it myself. I’m a bit old fashioned.”
