Longtime Voice coach Blake Shelton is leaving the show after Season 23 ends later this year. The new season hasn’t started airing yet, so fans don’t have to say “goodbye” to Shelton quite yet.
The Voice recently released a new teaser video previewing Shelton’s final season. The video opens with Shelton saying “This is my last season as a coach on The Voice.”
From there, the video shows a few clips from the auditions for the new seasons. Shelton’s fellow coach Kelly Clarkson jokes “he’s so tired” after being on the show for so many years. He playfully quips back, “I am tired of this,” which gets a good laugh out of Clarkson.
The video also shows Shelton poking fun at new coach Niall Horan. He teases him, saying, “Niall is already stealing my incredible artistic expression.”
The Voice plays off of Shelton’s signature “pick me” finger point he’s done for ages during the auditions. Text flashes on the screen during the video that says “He won’t ride off without a few pointers.”
It seems Shelton decided to enhance his finger point for his final season. One clip in the teaser shows a large foam finger-like sign that drops from the ceiling above his chair and says “pick Blake” on the front. Too funny!
“I just want everybody here to know that there’s only one King of the Voice,” Shelton says.
