On Tuesday, December 16, NBC’s The Voice crowned its Season 28 winner after a two-part finale that began on Monday night.

Yesterday, viewers watched the six finalists perform for the very last time. Heading into the night, contestants Aubrey Nicole, Jazz McKenzie, Ralph Edwards, Aiden Ross, DEK of Hearts, and Max Chambers all had a shot at becoming the next winner of The Voice.

Before the results were revealed, though, the show filled the two-hour episode with several special guest performances.

One duet that had many viewers talking was when Zac Brown Band’s lead singer, Zac Brown, joined Noah Cyrus on stage to perform his song “Butterfly.”

The song “Butterfly” was originally released as a duet between Brown and country music legend Dolly Parton earlier this year on his new album Love & Fear.

The track is especially meaningful to Brown not only because he got to work with one of his music idols, but also because the song was written for his children.

“Getting to record ‘Butterfly’ with Dolly is a dream come true,” Brown said in a statement, per Billboard. “She’s always been one of my biggest inspirations, not just as an artist, but as a person. Collaborating with her brought a whole new perspective to the song. Together, we were able to capture the power of storytelling, weaving a narrative we hope will deeply resonate with listeners. Her voice brings so much heart and soul to this track and singing it with her was pure magic. This song was written for my kids for all the challenges life brings.”

So, when it was time for Brown and Cyrus to come together on the Voice stage to sing, it was undoubtedly going to be special. And they definitely didn’t disappoint!

It may have been the first time the two artists have performed together, but you wouldn’t have known it.
