What Is The Playoff Round?
The Voice is a competition show with five stages that performers must navigate to win.
In the first four rounds, the judges make the selections while the audience determines the final winner in a live fifth round. The five stages are blind auditions, battle rounds, knockouts, playoffs, and live performance shows.
The Playoffs feature a guest advisor who helps the performers navigate their solo performances. The stakes are higher in the playoff round because there are no saves or steals, which are available in the previous rounds. Each judge can only pick two singers from their five to move on to the live performances.
This year, team Gwen featured MGK as the team’s advisor. See his introduction below.
Machine Gun Kelly, also known as MGK, is primarily known as a rapper, but he has recently ventured into the country genre by collaborating with Jelly Roll. Together, they released two songs titled “Lonely Road” and “Time of Day.” MGK’s ability to blend genres has made him a valuable advisor on The Voice.

Some fans have taken issue with the fact that Simone Biles is not a musician, but as one commentator stated:
“This totally makes sense when you realize that these people can already SING and what they need is training on stage presence, confidence, and performance, which she’s an expert in.”
Snoop Dogg clearly picked the Olympian because she has a great stage presence and learned how to be in the spotlight at a young age. Simone Biles also presented for the CMA Awards this year!
Reba McEntire and Michael Bublé’s advisors have not yet been announced.
