Episode 2 of The Voice Season 26 aired Monday night (September 30) and featured a country singer that may be the one to beat.

Tanner Frick, a maintenance worker from Manchester, Tennessee, brought his longtime dream to life during his Blind Audition. After years of putting his musical aspirations on the back burner, Frick was given the opportunity of a lifetime when he took the Voice stage.

In honor of the artist who inspired him to audition, Tanner covered former Voice contestant Morgan Wallen’s hit song “Thought You Should Know.” Wallen appeared on the reality singing competition in 2014 and earned a two-chair turn for his cover of Howie Day’s “Collide.”

Wallen joined Team Usher and was eliminated during the Playoff round. He may not have won The Voice, but the show was a stepping stone for the singer who signed with Big Loud Records just two years later.

“Thought You Should Know” was co-written by Wallen and was released as the second single from his third studio album, One Thing at a Time. He released the song in 2022 as a tribute to his mom, Lesli. Upon its release, the song debuted atop the Billboard Hot Country Songs chart, replacing his own “Wasted On You” to take No. 1 again. The feat made Morgan the first artist to replace himself at the top of the chart with a No. 1 debut.

Tanner Frick’s performance of the emotional track won the hearts of all four coaches, resulting in a rare four-chair turn.

Each coach was given the chance to try to woo the singer to their team. Rookie coach Snoop Dogg bragged that he was the first to turn his chair. Gwen Stefani showed off serious bragging rights by reminding him that she’s married to Blake Shelton. Michael Buble boasted about his love of country music and his friendship with Sheltong, but nobody carries quite as much clout as the Queen of Country, Reba McEntire.

Frick shared that his sound is influenced by Hank Williams Jr., Waylon Jennings, and Reba, of course. The “Fancy” singer praised Tanner’s performance saying, “I thought you sang really, really well. I love that song. When you did that Chris Stapleton growl, that just added so much dimension to your voice.”

Without hesitation, Tanner Frick chose to join Team Reba.
