Team Niall’s Kirbi advanced to The Voice Season 28 Playoffs after a stunning rendition of Brandon Lake and Jelly Roll’s “Hard Fought Hallelujah.”
The final night of Knockouts took place Monday (November 24), and the Playoff lineup was revealed with the elimination of three more hopefuls.
In the Knockout round, two team members go head-to-head with songs of their own choosing. After their performances, their coach is tasked with choosing one singer to advance to the Playoffs and one singer to send home. At the end of the Knockouts, each coach is left with only four team members each, so the decision is quite possibly the biggest of the season.

For coach Niall Horan, his final Playoff pick was secured after a hard-fought battle between gospel singer Kirbi and Dustin Dale Gaspard. Kirbi came out on top with her incredible cover of Brandon Lake and Jelly Roll’s award-winning hit “Hard Fought Hallelujah.”
Kirbi earned a standing ovation for her Knockout performance of “Hard Fought Hallelujah.”
Kirbi’s jaw-dropping performance clearly moved the coaches. “You got into it, it was very emotional,” Reba told the singer.
Michael Buble added, “You understand who you are, where you want to go; you have the guts to take on songs that seem like they may not be in your lane.”
Her coach, Niall Horan, told Kirbi that her performance of “Hard Fought Hallelujah” was her “best performance to date without a shadow of a doubt. It was beautiful to watch, beautiful to listen to, you just smashed it.” The compliment was a big one considering that Kirbi earned a four-chair turn during her Blind Audition.
The decision to advance Kirbi in the competition was an easy one for Niall. “I picked Kirbi simply down to the fact that what she did in her performance tonight was just undeniable. There was no way she could sing like that, give the emotion that she gave, and leave this competition. She absolutely deserves to be in my top four.”
