Jacob Ryan Gustafson won The Voice despite not earning a chair turn on Tuesday’s episode, according to Michael Buble.

Jacob Ryan Gustafson, a fireman from Southern California, brought his country voice to his Voice Blind Audition on Tuesday (September 23). Prior to the audition, the 35-year-old gushed about his longtime girlfriend, Jennifer Brown, and their “Brady Bunch” family. Both of them brought three children into their relationship.

Jacob chose to sing Morgan Wallen’s “Spin You Around,” a song he said reminded him of Brown. But Gustafson’s performance failed to turn any coaches’ chairs. Coach Niall said he regretted not turning his chair. Coach Snoop thanked Gustafson for his work as a firefighter and promised to follow his career and consider him for his record label.

The firefighter used the Voice stage to propose to his girlfriend.

After the coaches’ comments, Gustafson asked if he could bring his girlfriend out on stage. When they agreed, he took Brown by the hand and led her to center stage, where he introduced her. He used the opportunity to tell Brown something that has the makings of a country song.

“This life is a beautiful life and I’m so blessed,” Gustafson told Brown. “Even right now, if I could change anything, the only thing I’d change is your last name.”

Jennifer was clearly surprised when Jacob got on one knee and asked Jennifer to marry him. The coaches were also surprised, and made their way to the stage to celebrate with the newly-engaged couple.

“Okay, so you won The Voice,” Michael Buble told Gustafson as he gave him a congratulatory hug.

“Jacob shows you that there are no losers on The Voice,” Buble said. “What a beautiful moment. Yeah, nobody turned, but the person he wanted most said ‘yes.'”
