Four-Chair-Turn Performers Jazz McKenzie & Trinity Compete Against Each Other During Voice Battles

The battles for Season 28 of The Voice are officially underway, and they had quite an exciting start!

The first episode of the battles aired on Monday evening (October 13). Due to a rule change this season, contestants were able to pick their own battle partners, resulting in some unexpected pairings.

For example, country artist Aaron Nichols and soulful singer Daron Lameek (both of Team Reba) joined forces to sing “Fooled Around and Fell in Love.” That matchup ended with Aaron being named the winner of the battle.

Another extraordinary collaboration occurred between Jazz McKenzie and Trinity of Team Bublé. Both artists got four chairs to turn during the blind auditions, so they had already established themselves as forces to be reckoned with.

They covered Jamiroquai’s “Virtual Insanity” during the battles. The coaches were clearly captivated by their performance, and they couldn’t wait to compliment the performers after the song ended.

Niall Horan made it obvious that he was ready to steal whoever Bublé didn’t choose as the winner of the battle.

Snoop Dogg declared, “Y’all took that man’s song and put some herbs and spices.”

Reba McEntire said if she had to choose between the two singers, she simply couldn’t.

As for the duo’s own coach, Michael Bublé, he praised Trinity for delivering such an “effortless and easy” performance. Turning to Jazz, he said, “You have this wonderful, powerful voice.”

It was a tough call to make, but Michael eventually named Jazz as the winner of the battle. But Trinity’s journey on The Voice didn’t end there.

When Trinity Was Made Available To Steal, Every Coach Jumped Into Action, Including Michael

The coaches wasted no time after Trinity was made available to steal. Reba, Snoop, and Niall all smashed their buttons, hoping to welcome the exceptionally talented singer onto their teams.

However, Bublé also threw his hat into the ring, using his only “save” to keep Trinity on his team if she wanted to stay.

Each coach made their case to Trinity, hoping she’d choose to continue through the competition with them. Bublé made the most passionate plea of all, saying, “I love you, dude. I really do hope it’s you and me [going] to the finals.”

Trinity weighed her options. But in the end, she decided to stay on Team Bublé. She joked with her coach, “Although my feelings are a little hurt by you, Michael, I take you back.”

Michael was relieved he didn’t have to say “goodbye” to Trinity, calling her an “all-around star.
