Banjos are probably one of the least trendy instruments amongst teenagers these days, especially teenage girls. However, from the looks of it, this young girl pays no attention to trends because she absolutely tears it up on her banjo. She is even able to keep up with the older, experienced players.

The young girl jams to Earl Scruggs’ “Foggy Mountain Breakdown” with a group of men decades her senior.

Their bluegrass jam session catches the eyes and ears of a crowd of people but she pays no notice pouring all her focus into her instrument.

New School Meets Old School

Five-string banjos are the most commonly used in bluegrass and have been around since the 1890s. The banjo is utilized widely in the country genre, as well as folk, Irish traditional, and bluegrass music. The instrument is considered highly traditional, so it’s refreshing to such a young girl operate at such an expert level on it.

Thanks to this girl, and several other young folks including young fiddler Carson Peters, bluegrass music is staying alive!

You can watch the young girl absolutely tear it up on the banjo in the video below and be sure to let us know what you think!
