Grammy-winning country artist Sturgill Simpson is stepping up to help hurricane victims.
The destructive force of Hurricane Helene has left a trail of devastation across the southeastern United States. The storm’s aftermath has resulted in over 200 fatalities and left thousands without homes, power, or access to basic necessities.
As communities grapple with the widespread destruction, local and federal authorities are mobilizing to provide aid and support to those affected. Many country artists have also stepped up to show their support. Dolly Parton recently donated a total of $2 million to support the community.
Now, Sturgill Simpson has announced a special benefit concert to support disaster relief efforts in North Carolina following the devastating impact of Hurricane Helene.
According to Billboard, the show is set for October 21 at the Koka Booth Amphitheatre in Cary, North Carolina. Currently, he’s touring to promote his Passage Du Desir project, performing under his new artistic identity, Johnny Blue Skies.
The concert comes as an addition to Simpson’s ongoing tour, which already had a scheduled stop at the same venue on October 22. Simpson replaces his previously planned Asheville performance, canceled due to hurricane damage, with this benefit show.
The North Carolina Disaster Relief Fund will receive all proceeds, supporting crucial hurricane relief efforts.
Fans eager to support the cause can mark their calendars for the following ticket sale dates:
- Local venue pre-sale: Thursday, October 10 at 10:00 AM ET
- General public on-sale: Friday, October 11 at 10:00 AM ET
From the Kentucky native’s military service to his Grammy win for Best Country Album in 2017 with A Sailor’s Guide to Earth, Simpson has shown a consistent ability to navigate different waters. Now, he’s channeling his talents to help those affected by Hurricane Helene, joining other country music stars like Eric Church, Miranda Lambert, Morgan Wallen, Dolly Parton, and more in relief efforts.
