Meet Hopeful Contestant Keyla Contestant

29-year-old Keyla Richardson is a music teacher from Pensacola, FL. Even though she grew up singing in church and has maintained a close relationship with music in her adult years, she admits that up until this point:

“I just felt like I wasn’t good enough. Nobody saw me, nobody heard me.”

As a single mother, Keyla says that her 9-year-old son, Drew, “means the world” to her and is her best friend. She shares:

“Because of him, I’m here, and I will never give up.”

Keyla Richardson Brings Luke Bryan To Tears

Keyla delivered an emotional cover of Pink’s 2008 hit, “Glitter in the Air,” while Drew and other family members listened from outside the door. She gave the song a soulful twist, adding runs that only accomplished vocalists could pull off. Midway through the audition, Keyla’s loved ones snuck in to get a closer look.

While Carrie commended her voice, she recommended that Keyla “let it breathe” at times. Luke helped guide her through a second attempt at the song. After making some minor tweaks, the judges were blown away. As he watched his mom from the wings, Drew mouthed every word.

Luke was moved to tears and told Keyla:

“You have a voice that will make people stop in their tracks.”

Ultimately, Keyla Richardson received three YES votes from the judges and will advance to the next round! Meet the talented singer and see the audition that made Luke Bryan tear up in the video below!
