Richard Goodall, now known as the “singing janitor,” captured hearts worldwide during his audition for Season 19 of America’s Got Talent earlier this spring.
The 55-year-old janitor from Indiana wowed everyone with his performance of Journey’s “Don’t Stop Believin’.” His rendition was so impressive that Judge Heidi Klum gave him the show’s top honor, the Golden Buzzer, and sent him directly to the live shows.
Since his audition, Goodall has become a viral sensation, with his audition video reaching 21 million views so far.
Richard Goodall Returns to the AGT Stage
During Tuesday night’s (August 13) live show performances, Goodall made his return to the stage three months after his audition. This time, he chose another classic tune to show off his talents, singing Michael Bolton’s 1990 hit “How Am I Supposed To Live Without You.” Unfortunately, after his performance, the judges offered more criticism than they did during his first appearance on stage.
Although Goodall remains a fan favorite, his song choice didn’t connect as strongly as his previous performance. Judge Simon Cowell noted that the song felt “too old-fashioned” for Goodall’s voice. However, Cowell did say that he believes that Goodall still has the potential to win the entire competition if he moves forward.
On the Latest Episode, Richard Goodall’s Fate on AGT Was Revealed.
During the most recent episode of the competition, the first results of the season’s Quarterfinals were announced. Eleven acts performed their best to secure their spots in the next stage of the competition, but only eight made it through, including one act who received a Golden Buzzer Tuesday night. The Hakuna Matata Acrobats earned the privilege of advancing directly to the finals after Heidi Klum awarded them the coveted Golden Buzzer.
So, did America’s favorite janitor get enough votes to advance to the next round of the competition?
The show took its time revealing the news of who was advancing and which three acts of the ten remaining were eliminated. The 10 talented quarter-finalists took the stage and Crews revealed who was moving forward, one act at a time. The crowd went wild when it was announced that Goodall was moving on in the competition.
Goodall was almost speechless as the news sunk in that he was now a semi-finalist. He simply addressed the crowd, saying, “Thank you, America!”
