Christian Artist Forrest Frank Says He Will Not Be Attending This Year’s Dove Awards

Due to his convictions concerning award shows, Christian artist Forrest Frank took to social media announcing that he would not be attending the DOVE Awards this year.

The DOVE Awards are a faith-based award show put on every year by the Gospel Music Association. This year’s ceremony is scheduled to air on Friday, October 10 at 7:30PM. The show was filmed live on Tuesday (October 7) at Nashville’s Bridgestone Arena.

Despite winning New Artist of the Year and Pop/Contemporary Recorded Song of the Year for “Good Day” in 2024, Frank shared with his Instagram followers that it was “hard to know the line in the sand between being in the world and not of the world.”

“As a Christian artist, I dress kinda like the world, I kind of look like the world. My music can kind of sound like the world. So where’s the line in the sand drawn?,” he continued.

Because of that, Frank revealed that he is taking a “stance of non-participation.”

I will not be attending the Doves or the Grammys,” he shared. “I hope to be an example to the youth that the trophy is our salvation. The trophy is that my name is listed in the Book of Life and I get to have eternal life. What good is a piece of metal going to do compared to that?”

Sadie Robertson Shares Her Opinion On Christian’s Attending Award Shows

Following Frank’s decision, which has sparked much debate within the Christian community, Duck Dynasty star and podcast host Sadie Robertson shared her thoughts on the topic.

Robertson opened up to fans sharing a few photos of herself at previous award shows, and a carousel of notes explaining her stand.

“I’m so thankful for @hiforrest’s impact and convictions! I’m also incredibly grateful for whart the @gmadoveawards stand for & believe in!,” Robertson captioned the post.

She began by reminding fans that she wholeheartedly believes followers of Jesus Christ have their own personal convictions and that not every person is the same. And while she respects Frank’s perspective and honors his decision to do what he feels best, that “does not mean that the Dove Awards or anyone who goes to them or chooses to accept an award is doing anything wrong.”

Robertson shared an example of how her podcast, Whoa That’s Good, gained a tremendous amount of listeners following her 2022 K-Love Podcast of the Year award, and she was then able to share Jesus with many more people.

She also explained how she personally believed Christian award shows set a tremendous example of how Godly entertainment should look.

“Some of the most genuine salt of the earth people are behind these with the intention to lift the name of Jesus and continue to spread the gospel,” Robertson said.

Robertson often brings on authors, speakers, musicians, athletes, and other celebrities on Whoa That’s Good to share stories and wisdom from a Christian worldview.

Along with her podcast, she also speaks at massive faith-based events and conferences, including Passion and her recent LO Sister Conference.
